KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: The Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), in collaboration with Google Cloud, launched the second edition of the Kuwait Initiative for Digital Skills Development on Wednesday, aimed at equipping Kuwaiti public sector employees with advanced digital skills.

Minister of State for Communication Affairs, Omar Al-Omar, highlighted the importance of the initiative during the event, stating that it marks a critical milestone in the ongoing overhaul of Kuwait’s digital sector. The program focuses on providing government personnel with hands-on experience in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, thereby enhancing institutional efficiency and improving the quality of services provided to citizens and residents.

Al-Omar emphasized that the initiative not only empowers national talent with cutting-edge technologies but also plays a pivotal role in building a knowledge-driven, innovative economy. "Investing in human capital is a sustainable and renewable investment," he said, "and it forms the cornerstone of the New Kuwait Vision 2035."

The Minister also underscored the significance of the partnership between the government and Google Cloud, noting that it reflects Kuwait’s commitment to advancing its digital capabilities. "This collaboration is more than just a training program; it is a strategic investment in Kuwait’s future, consolidating the country’s position as a regional hub for technology and innovation," Al-Omar stated.

Shaymaa Al-Terkait, Google Cloud’s General Manager in Kuwait, reaffirmed the company's commitment to empowering the local workforce through digital transformation. She expressed confidence that the initiative’s expanded offerings will have a long-term impact, fostering the development of a future-ready talent pool that will contribute to Kuwait's technological growth.

The first edition of the Kuwait Digital Skills Development Initiative was launched in October 2023, providing training in cloud computing, data analysis, and machine learning. This second edition builds upon that success, aiming to further expand the program's reach and impact on the nation’s digital landscape.

As Kuwait continues its push to modernize its digital infrastructure, the initiative is seen as a key component in achieving the country’s ambitious vision for 2035. The program’s ultimate goal is to ensure that Kuwait’s workforce remains at the forefront of technological innovation, supporting both economic growth and digital transformation across the public and private sectors.
