BEIRUT, Sept 11: The Kuwaiti Kyokushin Karate team won two gold and five bronze medals at the end of the 11th Arab Kyokushin Karate Championship on Sunday. Salem Al-Helili won the gold medal of the junior open weight category after defeating the Lebanese Muhammad Nahal and the Iraqi Qais bin Qais. Similarly, Dhari Al-Enzi won the gold medal of the men’s open weight category after defeating Lebanese Zakaria faoor and Mohammad Mansour.
Ahmad Hassan, Abdualaziz Al- Azmi, Abduallah Mohammad, Saud Al-Otaibi and Tarek Ali secured places on the podium after winning three bronze medals respectively. In a statement to KUNA, head of the Kuwait mission Hassan Al- Kandari said this is the biggest medal tally for Kuwait in the championship, noting that out of the 10 Kuwaiti athletes, seven have become medalists.
