DOHA, May 18 (KUNA): Kuwait continued its strong showing at the 4th Gulf Games in Doha 2026, adding two gold medals, one silver, and four bronze medals on the sixth day of competition, which runs through May 22. The latest achievements raised Kuwait’s overall tally to 44 medals, including eight gold, 15 silver, and 21 bronze.

Track and field athlete Eisa Al-Zankawi delivered one of the standout performances by winning gold in the discus throw event. Bronze medals were also secured by Bader Al-Suwaid in the men’s 1500m race, Abdullah Shaker in the decathlon, Amal Al-Roumi in the women’s 1500m event, and Sheikha Al-Saqhan in the shot put.

In bowling, Faisal Al-Saleem captured gold in the Masters competition, while fellow Kuwaiti Mustafa Al-Mousawi claimed silver.

Kuwait’s padel teams also impressed, with the women’s national team recording its second victory after defeating Qatar 3-0, while the men’s team edged Bahrain 2-1.

Kuwait Olympic Committee Director General, retired Major General Mohammed Saeed Al-Khalfan, praised the delegation’s performances, expressing pride in the results achieved despite the challenges and interruptions that affected preparations in recent years.

Al-Khalfan said the current edition of the Gulf Games has been exceptional for Kuwait, noting that the national teams surpassed expectations by winning medals across a variety of sports, including bowling, shooting, athletics, fencing, billiards and snooker, and taekwondo.
