Kuwait issues 2,160 new driving licenses to Bedouns’ in 2023

Central Agency for Resolving the Situations of Illegal Residents (Bedoons) in Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: The Central Agency for Resolving the Situations of Bedouns disclosed today that a total of 2,160 new driving licenses were issued “for the first time” to Bedouns throughout the year 2023. This initiative was conducted in collaboration with the General Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior.

Abdullah Al-Farhan, the Director of the Information Department at the Central Agency, conveyed to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that during the period spanning from January 1st to December 31st, 2023, a significant count of 26,437 driving licenses were renewed.

Among the governorates, Al-Jahra led with the highest number of newly issued licenses, totaling 1,268. Following closely, the Capital Governorate secured 322 licenses, while “Al-Farwaniyah” and “Al-Ahmadi” obtained 283 and 207 licenses, respectively. “Mubarak Al-Kabeer” and “Hawally” followed with 50 and 30 licenses, respectively.

Al-Farhan emphasized that individuals holding valid identification cards and reaching the age of 18 are eligible to obtain driving licenses. He further underscored that the issuance of these licenses adheres to Cabinet Resolution No. 409-2011, which aims to provide various benefits and facilities to illegal residents.

The Director expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Interior in facilitating the issuance and renewal of private driving licenses for illegal residents, emphasizing the importance of this cooperation in promoting road safety and legal compliance.

The announcement of 2,160 new driving licenses for illegal residents in Kuwait underscores the government’s efforts to address pertinent issues while ensuring safety and legal compliance on the roads.
