Kuwait is off to a flying start at the Asian Games

NAGOYA, Japan, Sept. 19: Kuwait’s national handball team opened its Asian Games campaign with a 26-24 victory over Iran in Group B in Nagoya, Japan.

The Blues produced a solid performance to overcome a strong Iranian side and claim their first two points of the tournament. Kuwait controlled key stages of the match and showed good technical organization and determination to secure a positive start to its campaign.

The team will now look to build on the victory in its remaining group matches as it targets a place in the second round and a deep run in the competition.

Kuwait’s preparations for the Asian Games included overseas training camps in Slovenia and Croatia, followed by a domestic camp. The team then completed its preparations in Tokyo, where the players trained daily and played one friendly match to improve their technical and physical readiness.

Kuwait was drawn in Group B alongside South Korea, Iran, Uzbekistan and Bahrain. The team is aiming to maintain its strong start and produce results that underline the progress of Kuwaiti handball at the continental level.

The Kuwait squad consists of Hussein Dashti, Mohammed Bouyabes, Hassan Safar, Abdullah Al-Khamis, Saleh Al-Mousawi, Saif Al-Adwani, Hamoud Al-Adwani, Aziz Salmeen, Haider Dashti, Fawaz Al-Mashari, Yousif Dhaif, Aziz Dhaif, Abdulrahman Al-Shammari, Aziz Al-Shammari, Mohammed Ali, and Hussein Al-Mutawa.
