Kuwait introduces traffic light pre-alert system to improve road safety

KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait has introduced a Traffic Light Pre-Alert System designed to give drivers and pedestrians advance warning before traffic signals change, allowing them sufficient time to prepare to move or stop safely.

Under the new system, a pre-alert will be activated before a traffic light changes, helping road users anticipate the upcoming signal and respond safely.

The advisory outlines two types of alerts:

Red Light Alert: Warns drivers to prepare to proceed safely.
Green Light Alert: Alerts drivers to prepare to slow down and stop gradually and safely.

Authorities said the system aims to improve traffic safety by giving motorists and pedestrians adequate time to react to changing signals and encouraging safer compliance with traffic rules and regulations.

The initiative forms part of efforts to enhance road safety and reduce sudden braking, confusion and accidents at intersections.
