Camels compete in the Kuwait International Camel Racing Championship.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: The 24th Annual Kuwait International Camel Racing Championship concluded successfully at the Martyr Fahad Al-Ahmad Racecourse, under the patronage of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Tareq Al-Jalahma, represented by Mr. Jarrah Al-Saeedi. The event was attended by leaders from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as well as representatives from Africa, Asia, and Europe.

The championship brought together participants from GCC and Arab nations, alongside friends from European countries, all competing for the coveted golden and silver swords and daggers awarded by the championship’s sponsors.

Speaking at the event, the Minister’s representative expressed his delight at attending the final festival, highlighting the participation of both sister and friendly countries. Salem Abu Laghad, President of the Palestinian Federation, also praised Kuwait’s leadership for their dedication to preserving the heritage sports of ancestors, and commended the club’s board and members for their efforts in advancing this traditional sport.

Hussein Al-Dawas, President of the Kuwait Camel Racing Club, hailed the championship as a resounding success. He noted that the event has grown into a cultural and sporting heritage festival with significant humanitarian, cultural, and civilizational value. According to Al-Dawas, the championship provided a unique opportunity for participants from the GCC, Arab nations, and Europe to experience the traditional sports of forefathers and appreciate the values that have contributed to the country’s progress and strengthened regional ties.

Al-Dawas also praised the strong support of the Minister of Youth and Sports and the General Authority for Sports, as well as the organizing committees, for their efforts in providing all necessary facilities to ensure the event’s success. He emphasized the ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting the heritage sport of camel racing.

In conclusion, Al-Dawas thanked the GCC countries and Arab nations for their continued support, which has been instrumental in elevating the Kuwait International Camel Racing Championship to a premier cultural and sporting event.
