Kuwait International Airport Targeted in Drone Attack; Radar System Sustains Damage

KUWAIT CITY, March 28: Kuwait International Airport was subjected to multiple drone attacks, resulting in material damage to infrastructure but no reported casualties, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

DGCA spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi said in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency that the attack caused significant damage to the airport’s radar system.

Al-Rajhi confirmed that emergency response teams and relevant authorities acted immediately after the incident, taking necessary measures to assess the situation and ensure aviation safety. Efforts are currently underway to restore full operational readiness as quickly as possible.

He added that the DGCA remains fully committed to maintaining the security and safety of civil aviation in the State of Kuwait, stressing ongoing coordination with all relevant authorities to implement required precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, the official spokesperson of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation in Kuwait, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, announced that Kuwait International Airport was targeted in multiple drone attacks attributed to the Islamic Republic of Iran, its affiliated groups, and armed factions it supports.

He confirmed that the incident caused significant damage to the airport’s radar system. However, no human casualties were reported, with losses limited to material damage, the official said.

Al-Rajhi added that emergency response teams and relevant authorities immediately responded to the incident, initiating comprehensive assessments and implementing necessary measures to ensure operational safety and restore full functionality as quickly as possible.

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation reiterated its full commitment to maintaining the security and safety of civil aviation in Kuwait, stressing continued coordination with competent authorities to address the situation and safeguard critical infrastructure.
