KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has directed that traffic violations committed by ministry vehicles be registered against the officers and employees using them, linking each violation to the user’s name and Civil ID number.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdul Wahab Al-Wahib issued Circular No. 134 concerning traffic violations recorded against ministry vehicles assigned to ministry leaders and other employees.

The circular aims to ensure the collection of outstanding traffic fines, regulate the use of ministry vehicles and prevent violations from being recorded against ministry vehicles without identifying the individuals responsible.

Under the directive, all traffic violations issued against Ministry of Interior vehicles will be attributed to the respective users and linked to their Civil ID numbers.

The circular also instructs the ministry’s sectors and departments to notify the General Directorate of Supply, represented by the Vehicles Department, of the names and Civil ID numbers of employees using ministry vehicles so that the necessary procedures can be taken to register violations against them.

Assistant undersecretaries, directors general, department heads and all ministry agencies have been instructed to inform their employees of the directive and ensure its strict implementation.

The measure is intended to strengthen compliance with traffic regulations, ensure that fines are collected from the responsible users and address any observations raised by regulatory authorities regarding uncollected violations.

The circular stated that the directive takes effect from the date of its issuance.
