KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has apprehended a fugitive suspect who escaped while in custody in connection with a case involving assistance to a person in leaving the country illegally.

According to the ministry, the suspect was initially arrested by the Border Investigations Department and referred to the General Department of Criminal Investigation to complete investigation procedures. He subsequently managed to escape while in custody.

Following directives from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, an immediate investigation committee was formed to determine the circumstances surrounding the escape and identify any individuals responsible, with legal action to be taken as necessary.

The ministry said the suspect was recaptured following intensified search, investigation and security operations.

The Ministry of Interior also warned the public against harboring, concealing or assisting wanted or fugitive persons, stressing that those involved could face legal accountability.
