KUWAIT CITY, Mar 24: The Kuwait Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems detected 17 hostile ballistic missiles and 13 drones within Kuwaiti airspace over the past 24 hours, amid escalating regional tensions.
In a media briefing, official spokesperson Saud Al-Atwan said 13 missiles were successfully intercepted and destroyed. The interceptions caused debris to fall in several areas, resulting in limited material damage, including to some residential homes and power lines, though no casualties were reported.
He added that four missiles fell outside the threat zone without posing danger. Of the 13 drones detected, 10 were intercepted, while three fell outside the threat area harmlessly.
Al-Atwan reaffirmed the armed forces’ readiness and resilience, stressing their role in safeguarding Kuwait’s security and sovereignty. He also highlighted coordination across military branches to respond effectively to ongoing threats.
The statement comes as Kuwait remains on heightened alert following recent Iranian attacks targeting the country and the wider region.
