KUWAIT CITY, Apr 27: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has stepped up inspection campaigns across local markets, resulting in 66 violation reports, three notices, and the closure of one establishment for breaching regulations.
The ministry said its Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department carried out extensive field inspections to ensure compliance with laws and consumer safety standards.
In Mubarakiya Market, the Capital Inspection Team inspected currency exchange outlets, perfume shops, and ready-made clothing stores, issuing 42 violations. Offences included running promotional offers without prior approval and failing to clearly indicate the country of origin on products.
Meanwhile, inspection teams in Farwaniya Governorate recorded 24 violations during visits to various commercial establishments. These included selling goods of unknown origin, trading prohibited items such as tobacco gum, advertising services without providing them, and non-compliance by some pharmacies with cash transaction regulations.
Authorities also cited violations related to the ban on trading gas cylinders and their accessories. Three notices were issued, including two to businesses operating without licenses, while one grocery store was warned for breaching rules on the sale of energy drinks.
The ministry confirmed that one establishment was shut down for operating without a valid license, stressing that inspection campaigns will continue to safeguard consumers and ensure market compliance.
