Kuwait Intensifies Hazardous Chemical Checks Across Governorates

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 21: The General Environment Authority (GEA) conducted a comprehensive inspection campaign targeting chemical storage facilities in the Al-Ardiya industrial and storage area to verify compliance with environmental and engineering regulations.

Inspectors examined how chemical materials were stored and handled and checked whether facilities were operating in accordance with their licenses and permits. Safety records, preventive measures and emergency procedures were also reviewed.

The GEA's Chemical Safety Department said the inspections form part of a periodic monitoring plan aimed at strengthening oversight of hazardous-materials activities, reducing environmental and health risks and protecting workers and surrounding areas.

The authority urged owners of facilities and warehouses to comply with Kuwait's Environment Protection Law and chemical safety requirements.

It said inspection campaigns will continue across various governorates to ensure compliance and strengthen controls over the handling and storage of hazardous materials.
