Kuwait-India trade, cultural, political ties continue growth

NEW DELHI, Aug 15: Kuwait Ambassador to India Mishal Alshemali affirmed on Saturday the strength of Kuwaiti-Indian relations during his participation in the annual celebrations held at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi to mark the 80th anniversary of independence. Ambassador Al- Shemali participated in the Independence Day ceremonies and celebrations at the invitation of Indian President Droupadi Murmu, along with senior Indian government officials, ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions in New Delhi, and a select group of business leaders and cultural and social figures.

Alshemali extended his warmest congratulations to the leadership and people of India, praising the Indian people’s journey towards freedom, progress, prosperity, and the pluralism that has characterized India over the decades. The Ambassador also emphasized the strength of the deep-rooted historical relations between Kuwait and India, which extend back to long periods of trade, cultural, and humanitarian exchange, predating the establishment of diplomatic relations in their current form in the early 1960s.

This bright historical trajectory of bilateral relations between Kuwait and India continues in the political, economic, and investment spheres, fostering mutual benefit and shared interests. The Ambassador also commended the positive role played by the Indian community residing in Kuwait, which serves as a vital bridge of communication between the two friendly nations.

Alshemali noted that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries, affirming Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening existing cooperation and the strategic Kuwaiti-Indian partnership, which has been encouraged by the leadership of both countries. He stressed the importance of working to deepen and enrich this partnership, propelling it to broader horizons within a framework of mutual respect, in order to achieve the common interests of both countries and their friendly peoples.
