KUWAIT CITY, Jan 3: The Public Authority for Manpower announced that it will soon conduct a test for skilled technical workers as a condition for issuing a work permit in cooperation with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training. PAM said in a press statement, that this comes under the directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, and out of his keenness to begin implementing the professional system project for smart recruitment, which is among the projects of the development plan.
The press statement added, PAAET and PAM are preparing a memorandum of understanding, which will be signed early next week, regarding holding practical and technical tests for skilled workers in the State of Kuwait to be a condition for issuing a work permit. The statement indicated that the MoU will include launching these tests in gradual stages regarding the professions subject to the test or not according to standards and conditions that will be determined by the memorandum between the two parties, especially since these tests will work to raise the level of the technical proficiency of those working in Kuwait to help develop the labor market.
The statement indicated that the first professions that will be subject to tests and obtain work permits will be in the contracting sector, to raise the efficiency of this sector and protect the Kuwaiti family from fraud and poor implementation. PAM added that there are upcoming steps to develop a mechanism for issuing a skill classification so that there are levels of employment according to skill and experience that will be decided in the future.
