KUWAIT CITY, June 21: Kuwait prohibits the entry of food items of unknown origin or home-made products from Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and some other countries in a bid to prevent the spread of food-related diseases, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources from the health sector. Sources told the daily that the ban, which was imposed after the spread of cholera in the above mentioned countries, remains in effect.

Sources affirmed the concerned authorities are closely monitoring the situation and reviewing the decision, especially since some countries have announced not recording any new cholera cases for about two months now. Sources explained the ban is not just due to the cholera outbreak, but also the repeated discovery of food-related diseases.
