SARAJEVO, Jan 26 (KUNA): The Kuwaiti ice skating team secured a bronze medal at the Bosnia and Herzegovina International Ice Skating and Freestyle Skiing Championship, which concluded in the Bjelasnica Mountain area.

Kuwait’s success came as athlete Salman Al-Kandari earned third place in the freestyle slopestyle event. The team also competed in the large hill ski jump, delivering impressive performances.

The Kuwaiti delegation, consisting of Al-Kandari and Abdulwahab Al-Mutawaq, competed alongside teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Georgia, North Macedonia, Greece, and Portugal.

Mishal Fulaith, Secretary of the Kuwait Winter Games Club and head of the sport, said the club was keen to involve its athletes in this international competition to prepare them for the World Championship in Germany this April. He praised both athletes for their strong performance and dedication.

Fulaith also highlighted the importance of international competitions in boosting the technical skills and experience of Kuwaiti athletes. He reaffirmed the club’s commitment to supporting its players across all five winter sports it oversees: ice skating, ice hockey, curling, speed skating, and figure skating.
