Kuwait ice hockey league opens new season

KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 21: The 2026-27 Kuwait National Ice Hockey League for men got underway the day before yesterday with six local teams competing in the tournament, organized by the Kuwait Winter Games Club at its rink in Bayan. The league will continue until May.

Stars, last season’s runners-up, opened their campaign with a 12-9 victory over defending champions Warriors.

The league features six teams — Stars, Warriors, Mushahads, Camels, Ice Stars and Falcon — with two matches scheduled each week until the end of the season.

Kuwait Winter Games Club President Fahad Al-Ajmi told KUNA that the league marks the start of the new season, which will also feature tournaments across the various sports overseen by the club for men and women in different age groups.

Al-Ajmi said the league has attracted a larger number of professional players this season, allowing Kuwaiti players to gain valuable experience and improve their level. He added that the experience would benefit the national team as it prepares for the Division IV World Championship, which Kuwait will host next March.
