Kuwait hosts workshop to strengthen public health emergency protocols
Kuwait Health Ministry organizes workshop to develop public health emergency plans.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: The Kuwait Center for Disease Prevention and Control (KCDC), affiliated with the Ministry of Health (MoH), organized a specialized workshop on Sunday under the title “Developing Public Health Emergency Protocols,” in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET).

In a press statement, the MoH said the initiative falls under the framework of the national program for managing rapid response teams during public health emergencies. The program aims to build national capacities and qualify health professionals to respond effectively to crises.

The ministry noted that the workshop is designed to enhance the readiness of rapid response teams and to develop standardized operational protocols covering all stages of preparedness, response, and deployment during health emergencies. These efforts are part of reinforcing the practical application of the national program for managing response teams.

Participants included representatives from key agencies concerned with public health emergencies, such as the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, the Public Health Department, the Medical Warehouses, the Laboratories Department, and the Crisis Management Center at the Ministry of Health.

The ministry explained that the workshop featured discussion sessions and group work focused on reviewing and updating response protocols. It also included hands-on training in workforce management, administrative and logistical planning, community mobilization, and mechanisms for post-emergency follow-up and evaluation.

Clear operational steps were agreed upon during the workshop, including processes for organizing support requests, selecting team members, and determining deployment and field coordination requirements. These actions will follow defined procedures for approval and activation.
