Kuwait hosts GCDC, IARC teams to enhance early cancer detection programs
The Ministry of Health hosts teams from the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (GCDC) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) for a field visit on early cancer detection programs in Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: The Ministry of Health on Tuesday hosted teams from the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (GCDC) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) for a field visit to assess early cancer detection programs in Kuwait.

Represented by the Department of Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases, the Ministry said the three-day visit is part of ongoing cooperation with the GCDC and IARC.

The visit began with a meeting between the visiting teams and Kuwaiti experts in early cancer detection at the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations. It was followed by field visits to healthcare facilities, including primary, secondary, and specialized care centers.

Officials said the teams will review early detection service pathways at all levels of healthcare and conduct interviews with specialists and relevant healthcare professionals. The visit will support joint efforts to develop practical recommendations that will form the basis of a national action plan to improve the quality of early detection programs.

The Ministry added that the international teams will also conduct capacity-building activities and provide practical training for lead trainers from Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries
