GCC church leaders gather in Kuwait under the Amir’s patronage for the annual Christian Churches conference

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: Kuwait hosted the annual conference of the Association of Christian Churches in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries from January 19 to 21, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The conference was held at the invitation of Bishop Aldo Berardi, Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia and representative of the Catholic Church, with the support and patronage of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The conference brought together members of the Association of Churches from various Christian denominations and nationalities, all serving churches and Christian communities in the GCC countries.

The gathering provided a platform for constructive dialogue, the exchange of pastoral experiences, and the strengthening of cooperation and Christian unity amid the shared challenges facing churches in the region. Participants discussed a number of pastoral and ecclesiastical issues, explored ways to support spiritual and social services, and emphasized the importance of a collective witness to the values of peace, love, and mutual respect, while enhancing a spirit of fraternity among churches in accordance with the laws, culture, and traditions of Gulf societies. The program included a visit by the heads of local churches in Kuwait to learn about their locations and pastoral roles and to participate in prayer services, highlighting the deep spiritual and fraternal connection between the churches and their congregations.

The convening of this conference in Kuwait affirms the country’s leading role in the region as a model for respecting freedom of worship, promoting interfaith dialogue, and strengthening the values of peaceful coexistence. In conclusion, the church leaders expressed their gratitude to Kuwait, its leadership, government, and people for the warm welcome and excellent organization, and wished the country continued security and stability. They affirmed their commitment to continuing collaborative efforts for the benefit of the churches and the communities they serve in the Gulf countries.
