KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: The Anti-Corruption Authority “Nazaha” has underscored the importance of working towards gradual and sustainable improvement in the next phase, as Kuwait maintained its position in the 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).
Nazaha said Kuwait ranked 65th out of 182 countries and territories included in the CPI for 2025, unchanged from its 65th position among 180 countries in 2024. The authority noted that the consistency reflects stability in Kuwait’s international standing despite the expansion in the number of countries covered by the index.
According to the CPI 2025 report issued by Transparency International, Kuwait scored 46 out of 100, maintaining the same performance level recorded in the previous year.
Nazaha pointed out that the 2025 results come amid a challenging global environment for anti-corruption efforts, with the worldwide CPI average falling to 42 out of 100—the lowest level in more than a decade. Most countries scored below this average, indicating a concerning global downward trend and underscoring the significance of Kuwait maintaining a score above the international average.
The authority highlighted that Kuwait has, in recent years, continued to develop its national integrity system by strengthening legislative and institutional frameworks, issuing and updating laws related to conflict of interest, whistleblower protection, and financial disclosure, as well as enhancing transparency in government procedures.
Nazaha stressed that improving Kuwait’s position in international indicators requires sustained national cooperation, stronger coordination among relevant bodies, and the consolidation of governance and transparency principles, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the enhancement of institutional trust.
