Kuwait Health Ministry fines consultant KD 7,000, suspends him for three months

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 22:  Kuwait’s Ministry of Health has imposed a total fine of KD 7,000 and a three-month suspension on a consultant in internal medicine following findings of professional violations at private health facilities.

The ministry said specialized technical committees found a number of professional violations committed by the consultant, who was also the license holder and medical director of private health facilities.

According to the ministry, three separate penalties were issued against the physician, including a KD 4,000 fine, a KD 3,000 fine and a three-month suspension from work.

In a separate case, the ministry said a consultant ophthalmologist was found to have committed a proven medical error and professional violation while working at one of the private medical centers. His license to practice medicine has consequently been suspended for one year.

The ministry said the penalties followed oversight and inspection procedures and reports by specialized technical committees, stressing that legal measures are taken in accordance with approved legal and procedural frameworks.

It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting patients’ rights and safety, holding accountable anyone proven to have violated professional standards, and strengthening discipline and quality across the health sector.

The ministry added that Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi has directed that legal action be taken against proven violations without leniency in matters concerning patient safety, healthcare quality and adherence to professional standards.
