Kuwait heads to Thailand for training camp ahead of key qualifiers

KUWAIT CITY, May 28: Kuwait departs for Thailand to attend an external camp lasting five days. This preparation is crucial as they head to Calcutta to face India on June 6 in the fifth round of the first group competitions within the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup finals.

Group A also features teams from Qatar and Afghanistan. The training camp, starting today, will continue until June 3. The team will then depart for India, returning to Kuwait the next day to prepare for hosting Afghanistan in the sixth and final round of qualifiers.

As it stands, the Qatari team leads the group with 12 points. The Indian team holds second place with 4 points, tied with Afghanistan but ahead on goal difference. The Blue Team is in fourth place with 3 points. Earlier, Rui Pinto announced the 26-player list for the matches against India and Afghanistan.

The Football Association aims to enhance the team’s readiness and ensure thorough preparation for the critical match against India. This encounter is pivotal for advancing to the decisive round of the Asian Cup finals. The team is focused on securing victories in the upcoming matches to qualify for the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers and guarantee a spot in the Asian Cup finals.
