KUWAIT CITY, July 14: The Kuwait U-18 national basketball team left for Doha on Tuesday to compete in the GCC U-18 Basketball Championship, which doubles as a qualifying tournament for the FIBA Asia U-18 Cup. The event begins on Friday and continues through July 22.
The squad travels to Qatar after wrapping up a two-week training camp in Cairo, where it played five warm-up games, including friendlies against Egypt and Jordan, as part of its final preparations for the regional tournament.
The delegation is led by Mohammed Al-Hassawi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Kuwait Basketball Federation and chairman of the Training and National Teams Committee. Joining him are team administrator Ghazi Al-Otaibi, Serbian head coach Mako, assistant coach Yahya Al-Bahar, strength and conditioning coach Milan, and team manager Taleb Al-Kandari.
Kuwait's 12-player roster includes Ali Al-Hindal, Amir Asadullah, Abdulrahman Al-Marzouq, Musaed Al-Obaidi, Abdullah Al-Juraid, Omar Murad, Ahmed Al-Rashid, Yousef Al-Ghoneiman, Adam Asadullah, Ali Al-Salahi, Farij Al-Furaij and Omar Al-Saleh.
Al-Hassawi said the team had completed its preparation program, noting that the players delivered encouraging performances during the training camp and friendly matches, allowing the coaching staff to settle on the final squad.
He also praised the players' commitment and discipline throughout the camp, expressing optimism that the team is well prepared to compete for a place at the continental finals.
