KUWAIT CITY, May 20: The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has revealed statistics on cyber fraud and scam reports handled by the National Cyber Security Center during April 2026, highlighting continued efforts to combat online fraud and strengthen digital security in the country.
According to the authority, a total of 172 reports were processed during the month.
- Websites accounted for the highest number of complaints with 87 reports
- WhatsApp-related scams with 34 cases
- Social media fraud with 31 cases
- 18 scam-related phone call reports
- 2 cases linked to fraudulent text messages
CITRA said individuals can report cyber fraud attempts through the Sahel application using the “Aman” service or via the authority’s official website.
The authority explained that users are able to specify the type of cyber fraud encountered, including text messages, voice calls, websites, digital platforms, or other online threats.
CITRA added that all reports are reviewed and processed in accordance with approved regulations and procedures aimed at protecting users and enhancing cybersecurity awareness across Kuwait.
