KUWAIT CITY, June 25: Kuwait’s national handball teams have intensified preparations for a series of upcoming regional and international commitments through a comprehensive development program targeting various age categories. The initiative reflects the Kuwait Handball Federation’s commitment to strengthening its talent pipeline and ensuring players are fully prepared for future challenges.
The youth team is currently focusing on the Asian Championship scheduled for August. However, the event's hosting arrangements remain uncertain after Uzbekistan officially withdrew from organizing the tournament, prompting the Asian Handball Federation to search for a replacement host.
At the same time, preparations are continuing for the U-16 team, which is expected to participate in an overseas training camp in Egypt next month. The federation is also implementing a long-term development plan for younger age groups aimed at identifying and nurturing promising talent.
Training sessions for the youth and cadet teams are being overseen by national coach Khaled Al-Mulla, while Hassan Al-Mousawi is leading the cadet squad's preparations. The camps have witnessed strong commitment and enthusiasm from the players.
Faisal Siwayan, Director of National Teams at the Kuwait Handball Federation, stressed the importance of developing players according to modern technical and scientific standards to ensure they reach optimum levels of readiness before competing internationally.
"We have clear objectives and carefully designed preparation programs," Siwayan said. "We believe the youth team has a strong opportunity to perform well at the Asian Championship, and we are determined to showcase the quality and reputation of Kuwaiti handball."
He added that the planned training camp in Egypt will focus on enhancing players' physical condition, tactical awareness, and overall team chemistry ahead of future competitions.
Coach Khaled Al-Mulla praised the players' potential, noting that they possess the qualities needed to achieve success at higher levels if they continue to work hard and remain committed.
"We have important international competitions ahead, and our goal is to prepare the players in the best possible way to achieve positive results," Al-Mulla said, while also expressing appreciation for the support provided by the federation and the cooperation of players' families.
Meanwhile, Coach Hassan Al-Mousawi emphasized the significance of investing in youth development, describing grassroots programs as the foundation for building future national teams. He noted that proper training and guidance at an early age help produce players with strong technical skills and physical capabilities.
