KUWAIT CITY, Sept 6: Kuwait’s senior national handball team is stepping up preparations for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with the tournament scheduled for September 19 to October 4.

The Blues will travel to Japan next Wednesday for their final overseas training camp before beginning their Asian Games campaign.

Kuwait will look to build on its bronze-medal success at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, where the team defeated Japan in the third-place playoff.

The draw placed Kuwait in Group B alongside Bahrain, South Korea, Iran and Kazakhstan. The Blues will open their campaign against Iran on September 19, followed by matches against South Korea on September 21, Kazakhstan on September 22, and Bahrain on September 25.

The Kuwait Handball Federation has expressed its full backing for the national team and wished the players success as they seek to represent Kuwaiti handball with distinction.

Kuwait recently returned from Slovenia after completing an overseas training camp that included several friendly matches in a tournament, along with games against Slovenian league champions Celje and clubs Istria, Gradis, Trimo Trebnje, and Zagreb.

The team will continue its preparations in Kuwait until next Wednesday before heading to Japan for the final stage of its Asian Games buildup.
