Kuwait handball squad undergoes intensive training at Shaheed Fahad Al-Ahmad Hall.

KUWAIT CITY, May 30: The Kuwait national handball team continues its intensive daily training sessions at Shaheed Fahad Al-Ahmad Hall as it enters the technical and tactical phase of preparation for the upcoming Asian Games, following the completion of a recent physical conditioning program at the “Spark” sports center.

The coaching staff is focusing on improving team cohesion and implementing tactical systems that will be used in the next stage, with strong commitment and high morale evident among the players.

Kuwait is set to begin an overseas training camp in early July, which will feature some friendly matches aimed at reaching peak technical and physical readiness ahead of the continental competition.

National team director Faisal Sowan confirmed that preparations are progressing according to plan, praising the players’ dedication and positive attitude throughout the training period.

He added that the team is aiming to deliver a strong and honorable performance that reflects the development of Kuwaiti handball, stressing that everyone is working together to represent Kuwait in the best possible way on the international stage.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Club is also stepping up preparations for the 28th Asian Club Championship for Men, which serves as a qualifier for the Super Globe World Cup – Egypt 2027, and will be hosted by Kuwait from June 6 to 15.

Kuwait Club has bolstered its squad with three foreign professionals: Qatari Francois Marzo, Montenegrin Vladan Lipova, and Portuguese Victor Eitoriza, along with Macedonian Filip Kuzmanovski for the Asian competition.

Burgan, Kuwait’s second representative in the tournament, wrapped up its overseas training camp in Cairo with a match against Qatar’s youth national team. The side had previously played two friendlies against Egypt’s youth team and is scheduled to return home today.

The tournament draw has produced tough group-stage battles. Host  Kuwait Club has been placed in Group B alongside Bahrain’s Al-Najma, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Khaleej, and Qatar’s Al-Arabi, while Burgan will compete in Group A with the UAE’s Sharjah, China’s CHA, and Qatar’s Al-Duhail. Burgan will begin its campaign on June 6 against the Chinese side.
