Kuwait Handball Federation coordination meeting with sports directors in progress.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: The Kuwait Handball Federation held a coordination meeting with sports directors from local clubs participating in handball competitions, as preparations continue for the 2026-2027 season.

The meeting, held at the federation’s headquarters at the Martyr Fahad Al-Ahmad Complex in Al-Daiya, in the presence of federation board member Mishal Al-Qabandi, reviewed the positives and challenges from last season.

Officials also discussed proposals aimed at improving Kuwaiti handball, with particular emphasis on both the technical and administrative aspects of the game.

The federation is planning a second coordination meeting before the new season begins, this time with youth-team coaches from the participating clubs.

Al-Sulaibikhat first-team handball director Hussein Siwan described the meeting as productive, saying it addressed several issues that could contribute to the development of Kuwaiti handball.

He said particular attention was given to youth development and competitions, as well as reviewing tournament formats and ensuring that technical staff are selected carefully to help improve players’ performances and raise the standard of domestic competitions.

Siwan also highlighted the importance of completing the administrative and technical structures within handball departments. He said clubs should aim to have a full support team comprising a technical director, head coach, assistant coach, goalkeeper coach, physiotherapist, doctor, and data analyst.

According to Siwan, establishing comprehensive technical and administrative teams would have a positive impact on players and clubs while helping develop Kuwaiti handball according to sound technical and scientific principles.

He expressed hope that greater attention would be devoted to strengthening these structures during the coming season.
