KUWAIT CITY, April 21: Kuwait’s Cabinet commended the vigilance of UAE security authorities in dismantling a terrorist cell involved in activities aimed at undermining national unity. The cabinet reaffirmed Kuwait’s firm rejection of all forms of terrorism and extremism, expressing full solidarity with the UAE.

This came in the Cabinet’s weekly meeting under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, after which Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereedah Al- Maousherji delivered a statement outlining the outcomes. At the outset, the Cabinet was briefed on a written message addressed to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The message was received by His Highness the Prime Minister from UK Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary David Lammy during his recent visit to Kuwait, focusing on bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, as well as regional and international developments. The C

The cabinet also listened to a briefing by Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah on the latest regional developments and the ongoing military situation in light of recent Iranian attacks on Kuwait. He noted that army explosive ordnance disposal teams have been handling remnants of shrapnel and unexploded ordnance during a ceasefire period, explaining that any explosion sounds heard are due to these disposal operations. In turn, Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah briefed the Cabinet on diplomatic efforts undertaken by the ministry and its missions abroad to keep pace with recent developments. He also outlined the outcomes of his recent visits to Bahrain, where he met King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al- Zayani, as well as to Egypt, where he met President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi and Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.

The Cabinet was further briefed on a series of phone calls conducted by the Foreign Minister with counterparts from brotherly and friendly countries to discuss regional developments. Kuwait’s cabinet welcomed the announcement by US President Donald Trump of a ceasefire in Lebanon last Friday, praising efforts by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, and reaffirming Kuwait’s support for Lebanon in measures to assert state authority and maintain security and stability. In this regard, the cabinet condemned the attack targeting the French contingent of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, which resulted in one fatality and several injuries, stressing the need to hold perpetrators accountable and reaffirming support for UNIFIL’s role.

The cabinet reviewed reports from ministers and government entities on measures taken to raise readiness to the highest levels to ensure the safety of citizens and residents and secure essential needs amid current military and security developments. It also urged citizens and residents to verify information and rely on official sources, warning against spreading rumors or unverified news, stressing that legal action will be taken against violators to safeguard public order. The cabinet mourned the passing of former Justice Minister Ghazi Obaid Al-Sammar, praising his contributions and service to the nation. The cabinet approved several items on its agenda and referred others to relevant ministerial committees for further study. It affirmed that it will remain in continuous session to monitor ongoing developments at both the domestic and regional levels.
