KUWAIT CITY, Dec 13: Emad Boukhamsin, Chairman of the Kuwait International Automobile Club, has lauded the re-election of Mohammed Bin Sulayem as President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), emphasizing that the high percentage of votes he received reflects “the immense trust he commands within the international sports community and his capability to lead one of the world’s largest sports organizations.”
Boukhamsin highlighted that during Bin Sulayem’s first term, “his expertise and extensive connections with sports officials worldwide brought a major transformation to motorsports across all categories and strengthened the Arab world’s influence in global sports decision-making.”
He added that the re-election “is a win for Arabs generally, and for Kuwait specifically,” noting that Kuwait was Bin Sulayem’s starting point in rally racing—a springboard to global recognition—making their relationship historic and deeply rooted.
Following the FIA general assembly, Boukhamsin met with Bin Sulayem and Vice President Essa Hamza to discuss strategies for advancing motorsports in Kuwait. He highlighted the country’s assets, including the largest motorsports city in the Gulf, featuring six specialized tracks for diverse racing disciplines.
Bin Sulayem expressed his full support for Kuwait’s upcoming development programs, stressing the importance of “optimally utilizing these world-class facilities to benefit motorsports and motorcycle racing in Kuwait, the Gulf, and the wider Middle East.”
Boukhamsin also extended an invitation for Bin Sulayem to visit Kuwait, where he would meet senior officials at the Amiri Diwan and the Ministry of Youth to explore ways to restore Kuwait’s motorsport scene to its former leading position.
