Kuwait gymnasts dazzle in Athens with 3 gold

Kuwait gymnasts display the national flag as they celebrate their victories.

ATHENS, Nov 12: The Kuwaiti junior artistic gymnastics squad showcased their prowess on the inaugural day of the Horizon Cup International competitions in Athens, Greece, securing a total of 5 medals, including 3 gold and 2 silver.

Muhammad Al-Deehani, the head of the delegation and assistant treasurer of the Gymnastics Federation, revealed that the standout performer, Abdullah Behbehani, clinched two gold medals in the floor and ring apparatus. Additionally, Rashid Al-Kandari contributed to the team’s success by securing a gold medal in the floor apparatus. The remaining silver medals were earned by Hussein Dashti and Muhammad Al-Hatem in the pommel horse competition.

Al-Deehani emphasized the exceptional confidence and competence displayed by the Kuwaiti team. Despite facing competition from 160 players representing 11 countries, including Bulgaria, Switzerland, Albania, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Britain, Kosovo, Macedonia, Hungary, and Greece, the Kuwaiti gymnasts proved their mettle. He noted that the team’s champions demonstrated responsibility and fearlessness, successfully competing against their counterparts from advanced nations and bringing commendable accolades to Kuwaiti gymnastics.
