KUWAIT CITY, Aug 26: As the summer season draws to a close, indicators confirm that the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy triumphed over the challenges of the summer of 2026 despite the difficult circumstances brought about by the Iranian attacks on power generation facilities.
This success is attributed to the guidance and close monitoring of Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Subaih Al- Mukhaizeem, other ministry officials, and the efforts exerted by employees in all sectors, particularly in the power generation and water desalination plants, emergency and other departments. Data showed that such success is based on four factors.
First is the diligence of the National Committee for Energy and Water Conservation which, in cooperation with the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Endowments and the industrial sector, raised public awareness on the need to limit consumption during peak hours. Second is activating the Gulf electricity interconnection to ensure grid stability and address the issue of higher consumption from June to September.
Third is completing maintenance works in electricity and water generation units as per the schedule, and resumption of their operations before the summer season. Fourth is the readiness of the technical emergency teams to deal with power outage in various areas, speed up repair and power restoration operations, and provide emergency generators during maintenance work.
