Kuwait grants KD 5m loan for Liberia road project

KUWAIT CITY, July 29 : The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) participated Wednesday in the inauguration of the Banga-Salayea road project in Liberia and the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Salayea- Konia road project, supporting infrastructure development. Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai said the projects represent a milestone in Liberia’s development, creating opportunities, connecting communities, expanding economic activities and improving citizens’ quality of life. KFAED Operations Department Director Thamer Al-Failakawi said the projects refl ect the strong cooperation between KFAED, Liberia and development partners, highlighting the importance of partnerships in achieving sustainable development. The 81-kilometer Banga-Salayea road project aims to improve transportation, reduce travel costs and enhance access to markets and services, with KFAED contributing a KD 5 million loan. The 50-kilometer Salayea-Konia road project, financed through a KD 4 million KFAED loan, completes the corridor and strengthens connectivity and trade within Liberia and neighboring countries. KFAED’s cooperation with Liberia began in 1978, with the fund providing four loans and one technical assistance grant to support development projects. (KUNA)
