Kuwait Govt schools to fill ‘shortage’ of 700 expat teachers for 12 majors

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 23: The Ministry of Education identified it needs for male and female teachers for the next academic year 2023-2024 and said the door is open for local hires (non- Kuwaitis) in many disciplines, to meet the needs of public schools, reports Al- Qabas daily. Informed sources told Al-Qabas daily that the Ministry of Education needs about 700 male and female teachers in 12 specializations to fill the shortage in public schools. The public education sector said the ministry started receiving applications via the official website of the Ministry of Education, starting Sunday.

Experience
According to the announcement, which Al- Qabas obtained a copy of the Ministry of Education stressed the necessity of adhering to the experience condition in order to accept applicants’ documents in all subjects except for the female musical education major as follows — 3 years for those with non-educational qualifications and two years for those with educational qualifications.

The ministry has exempted the following categories from the experience requirement — holders of a doctoral degree and holders of a grade of no less than very good in the university qualification; holders of a Master’s degree and holders of an average of no less than excellent in the university qualification; graduates of the Faculty of Education from Kuwait University and the Faculty of Basic Education in the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training and all other government colleges in Kuwait.

Limited
Acceptance is limited to passing a personal interview, and no case or specialization is excluded from this. The sources stressed that priority of appointment, after accepting all Kuwaitis in the required specializations, is for the outputs of local teacher preparation colleges for the following categories — children of Kuwaiti women and bedoun, children of Gulf Cooperation Council countries and finally expatriates
