Kuwait Government Official Caught Accepting Bribe of KD 50,000

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 21: In a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to protect public funds and combat corruption, the Criminal Security Sector, through its Forgery and Counterfeiting Department, apprehended a government agency inspector in the act of receiving a bribe of 50,000 dinars. The arrest followed a carefully planned operation in which detectives documented the transaction using audio and video recordings.

A security source stated that an expatriate workshop owner approached detectives after his business had been issued a permanent closure order. The complainant explained that he had received a call from an individual claiming to be an inspector from the relevant government agency. The inspector allegedly offered to convert the permanent closure to a temporary one, allowing the workshop to reopen, in exchange for a total payment of 200,000 dinars, with an advance of 50,000 dinars.

The source added that the inspector requested the advance payment in cash at his farm in the Al-Abdali area. Detectives quickly obtained a warrant and instructed the complainant to cooperate with the inspector while ensuring surveillance of the transaction. The operation successfully led to the inspector’s arrest while accepting the bribe, demonstrating the authorities’ commitment to transparency and accountability in public service.
