KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: Kuwait’s Winter Sports Club is stepping up preparations to host the 4th Division IV Ice Hockey World Cup from April 12–18, 2026. The tournament will feature six national teams: Kuwait, Singapore, Armenia, Iran, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Fahid Al-Ajmi, club president, emphasized that hosting the event underscores Kuwait’s growing presence in international ice hockey. He highlighted that the Supreme Organizing Committee has been working since the International Ice Hockey Federation’s announcement in October, forming committees for logistics, finance, facilities, technical support, PR, and media to ensure a successful tournament.
The ice arena and its facilities are being prepared to meet international standards. Organizers are also finalizing arrangements for accommodation, transportation, opening and closing ceremonies, and special fan activities during the event.
Kuwait’s national team will undergo a training camp in Sweden before the tournament, followed by a domestic camp. Al-Ajmi expressed confidence in the team’s potential to achieve strong results and contend for the championship.
He extended gratitude to the Public Authority for Sport, government entities, and national sponsors for their support, which will help showcase the tournament in a distinguished way.
