KUWAIT CITY, Oct 11: Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmad Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi, has issued a ministerial decree establishing a joint five-member committee tasked with enhancing pharmaceutical and food control measures, in a move aimed at safeguarding public health and ensuring the safety of society.
The Ministry of Health said in a statement Thursday that the formation of the committee reflects the ministry’s commitment to intensifying field inspections of private pharmacies and commercial outlets involved in the sale and distribution of pharmaceutical and food products. The initiative also aims to strengthen coordination among key government entities responsible for public health and consumer protection.
The newly formed committee brings together representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Public Authority for Manpower, and Kuwait Municipality, in addition to officials from the Ministry of Health. It will be chaired by the Assistant Undersecretary for Pharmaceutical and Food Control Affairs at the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry, the committee will operate under a unified regulatory framework designed to ensure swift coordination, rapid field response, and high-precision decision-making when monitoring and evaluating pharmaceutical and food-related establishments.
Minister Al-Awadhi emphasized that the decision underscores the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the health of citizens and residents, while reinforcing public confidence in the national healthcare system. He noted that rigorous oversight in the drug and food sectors remains a cornerstone of the ministry’s mission to protect society and uphold the highest standards of transparency and regulatory discipline.
