Kuwait Football Association President Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef Al-Sabah

KUWAIT CITY, April 6: Kuwait Football Association President Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef Al-Sabah is moving forward with a strategy of stability and development for the 2026–2030 term. The upcoming board elections, scheduled for May 20, will largely retain the current team, with only minor changes: Majed Awad of Al-Shabab Club replaces Osama Hussein, and Dalal Yousef Al-Mudhaf takes over the women’s seat from Hanan Al-Hardan.

This continuity reflects the board’s commitment to building on recent achievements, which have elevated Kuwaiti football both organizationally and technically.

Kuwait recently hosted the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup and the first Gulf Veterans Cup, boosting its regional football profile. Internationally, the country also staged the French Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Marseille, showcasing its capacity for high-profile events.

On the field, the national team impressed in the recent Arab Cup. The Under-20 League was launched to provide young talents with greater opportunities, and partnerships with private sector sponsors, including Zain for the Premier League, have been strengthened.

Looking ahead, the new board faces key challenges:

Competing in the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup in Jeddah this September

Participating in the 19th Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia in January

These tournaments will require continued focus to maintain progress and achieve positive results, reinforcing Kuwait’s growing reputation in regional football.

The confirmed list of candidates for the 2026–2030 board includes:

Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef (Al-Salmiya Club, President)

Mubarak Abdulaziz (Kuwait Club, Vice President – Financial & Administrative Affairs)

Ayman Al-Husseini (Kazma Club, Vice President – Technical Affairs)

Fahad Al-Hamlan (Al-Fahaheel, Board Member)

Majed Awad (Al-Shabab, Board Member)

Dr. Ahmed Ajab (Al-Sahel, Board Member)

Dalal Yousef Al-Mudhaf (Women’s Board Member)

The nomination period for board membership opened recently and will close on April 15, ahead of the May elections.
