Kuwait Food Authority rolls out first phase of smart license integration

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 12: The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition announced on Sunday the completion of the first phase of its electronic linkage project with the Smart License system, aiming to enhance digital transformation and improve consumer services in Kuwait.

In a press release, the Authority’s spokesperson, Dr. Shaima Al-Asfour, said the project is part of the Information and Communications Technology Infrastructure Program, designed to provide integrated electronic management using advanced tracking systems, directly linked to the e-government system.

Dr. Al-Asfour highlighted that the achievement marks a significant step in food resource management and strengthens oversight of food establishments. The new system allows authorities to identify potential violations and track sources of food contamination, supporting consumer health and ensuring safe and healthy food provision.

She added that the electronic linkage project reflects Kuwait’s commitment to implementing high food safety standards and bolsters the country’s international reputation in health and food control.

According to Dr. Al-Asfour, the first phase included developing electronic programs, updating work systems, and training staff to ensure service efficiency and faster procedures. The project is expected to improve food service quality, facilitate regular inspections, document results, and implement corrective measures, aiming to enhance consumer satisfaction and confidence in Kuwait’s food sector.
