KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has announced that its State Security Service has foiled a terrorist plot targeting a vital facility in the country and arrested a Kuwaiti citizen suspected of involvement with the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization.
The Interior Ministry said the suspect was arrested following meticulous security monitoring and surveillance operations carried out by the State Security Service before he could execute the planned attack.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had previously joined ISIS and had received training in the manufacture of explosives and drones, according to the ministry.
Authorities also found that the suspect had manufactured a drone with the intention of using it as part of his terrorist plot to target a vital facility in Kuwait. The ministry did not identify the facility or provide details on when or where the suspect was arrested.
The suspect was subjected to the necessary legal procedures and referred to the competent authorities to complete investigations and take further legal action in accordance with Kuwaiti law.
The Ministry of Interior stressed that its security services would continue proactive monitoring and operations aimed at detecting and preventing terrorist activities and plots that could threaten Kuwait’s security and stability.
The ministry also warned that it would deal firmly with anyone seeking to undermine national security or endanger the safety of citizens and residents, emphasizing that suspicious activities would be handled in accordance with the law.
