Kuwait Foils A4 Drug Smuggling Bid Hidden in Light Bulbs; Two Sri Lankans Arrested

KUWAIT CITY, July 20: Kuwait's General Directorate for Drug Control has foiled an attempt to smuggle the narcotic substance known as "A4" into the country, arresting two Sri Lankan nationals and seizing drugs intended for distribution, the Ministry of Interior announced.

According to the ministry, the operation was launched after authorities received intelligence about a postal parcel arriving by air freight containing narcotics. In coordination with the General Directorate of Customs, officers inspected the shipment and discovered 210 sheets of the narcotic A4 disguised as instructional booklets and concealed inside 10 light bulbs.

Following the seizure, security personnel arrested the intended recipient of the parcel, who admitted during questioning that he was preparing to hand it over to a second suspect. Authorities then set up a carefully planned ambush, leading to the arrest of the second suspect.

During the operation, officers also seized 10 grams of methamphetamine and a precision digital scale from the suspects.

The two accused, along with the confiscated narcotics and other seized items, have been referred to the competent authorities for legal action.

The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to combating drug smuggling and trafficking through proactive security operations, stressing that it remains vigilant against any attempts to threaten the safety and security of society.
