DUBAI, Aug 28: Team manager Abdulrahman Al-Mousa expressed his optimism for Kuwait’s performance in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, set to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Blues have conducted an external training camp in Abu Dhabi, UAE, since last Saturday. Their schedule includes two daily training sessions: a morning session in the hotel hall and an evening session at the Police Officers Club stadium in Dubai. The team is set to depart for Amman, Jordan next Sunday, in preparation for its first-round match against Jordan on September 5. Al-Mousa stated, "We hope to showcase a level worthy of Kuwait’s reputation. We will play with determination and competitiveness, aiming to be a formidable opponent in the quest for qualification."
He emphasized that the camp focuses on enhancing the players' mental readiness and fostering team cohesion, aiming to advance as far as possible in the qualifiers. Al-Mousa concluded by acknowledging the leadership of Argentine coach Juan Pizzi, who is overseeing the camp. He expressed confidence in Pizzi’s experience to guide the team towards their ambitions and praised the players’ fighting spirit. He added, "We hope the technical staff’s strategies and instructions are well-received by the players so that we can present the best possible performance in the qualifiers."
Hamad Al-Harbi highlighted the team’s ambition to perform well and satisfy the sports community, acknowledging that recent results had been disappointing. However, he noted that the qualification campaign had reignited the spirit and optimism among Blues fans. "We are determined to deliver our best performance," Al-Harbi said. "We have players ready to fight in the qualifiers and work hard to bring joy to the Kuwaiti fans."
Similarly, Ahmed Al-Dhafiri expressed hope that the preparation period would be sufficient to ready the team for the qualifiers, especially with the arrival of the new technical staff. He expressed confidence that the players are capable of reaching their highest potential.
The delegation celebrated the birthdays of team captain Khaled Ibrahim and physical therapist Raul during their camp in Dubai, UAE. The team continues their daily training sessions in two periods, during which Coach Pizzi has been experimenting with various strategies and rotating player positions to refine their approach and apply it effectively in upcoming matches.
