Kuwait FM receives UN Coordinator for Grain Initiative

KUAWIT CITY, Jan 4: Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received on Wednesday the newly appointed United Nations Coordinator for the Black Sea Grain Initiative Abdullah Abdul Samad Dashti.

Ukraine, Turkey, Russia and the UN jointly launched this Initiative on July 22, 2022 to allow the resumption of Ukrainian exports of grain, foodstuff and fertilizers, including ammonia, through a safe maritime humanitarian corridor.

During the meeting, the UN official explained the latest developments on this matter.
For his part, the foreign minister stressed Kuwait’s support for all international efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis and to find a peaceful solution for the humanitarian crisis of the Ukrainian people.
He congratulated Dashti on having been chosen by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to assume his post as of next Monday.

The Foreign Minister wished the UN coordinator success in his new post, especially during the current tough circumstances. (KUNA)
