KUWAIT CITY, July 1: The Ministry of Electricity and Water received approval from the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) last Sunday to float a tender for the supply, installation, and replacement of energy-efficient LED streetlights in existing networks in all governorates (Phase Two). According to informed sources, CAPT set July 28 as the deadline for receiving bids from interested companies. The ministry will proceed with the project after awarding the tender and signing a contract with the winning bidder. This tender is part of a ministerial plan to fully replace the lighting network with energy-efficient LED systems, which are 50 percent to 70 percent more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, in addition to expanding the installation of decorative lighting poles. The plan is expected to save the state treasury millions of dinars through energy savings, as well as reduce carbon emissions from traditional sodium lamps
