Kuwait flag raised at the Athletes’ Village in Nagoya ahead of the 2026 Asian Games.

NAGOYA, Japan, Sept. 16: The Kuwait flag was raised at the Athletes’ Village in Nagoya, Japan, ahead of the official participation of the Kuwaiti delegation in the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026), which run from September 19 to October 4.

The ceremony was attended by the Kuwait delegation chief and Kuwait Olympic Committee Director General, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Mohammed Saeed Al-Khalfan, deputy delegation chief Dr. Hussein Al-Saeed, financial director Mohammed Atef, as well as members of the Kuwaiti delegation and officials from participating sports federations.

The event was held in a festive atmosphere, with the Kuwaiti national anthem played as the flag was raised. The ceremony reflected the athletes’ pride in representing Kuwait at Asia’s biggest multi-sport event.

Al-Khalfan described the occasion as a proud moment for the entire delegation and praised the Kuwait Olympic Committee for its efforts to prepare the athletes and provide the support needed to achieve strong results.

He said the participation followed months of preparation and coordination with the country’s sports federations to ensure the athletes’ technical and physical readiness, overcome logistical challenges, and provide the necessary administrative and logistical support.

Meanwhile, Retaj Abdulhussein and Habari Al-Thuwaini will compete in the women’s individual modern pentathlon semifinals at 4:00 am. The event combines fencing, obstacle, swimming, and laser-run disciplines.

The Kuwaiti duo will seek strong performances in the decisive stage as they bid to advance to the finals.

In teqball, Zaid Eidan begins his men’s singles campaign in the qualifiers at 3:00 am, while Basel Ahmad and Abdulwahab Al-Qattan compete in the men’s doubles qualifiers at 7:30 am.
