KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: The Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) will step up inspection campaigns across the country to monitor and address violations of fire prevention regulations, Chief of the Directorate Major General Talal Al-Roumi announced Wednesday.
The move follows directives from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, and comes as part of national efforts to safeguard lives, protect property, and enhance community safety and resilience, Al-Roumi told KUNA.
He explained that the intensified inspections will extend beyond major cities and governorates to include all residential, industrial, and commercial zones. The goal is to ensure full compliance with fire prevention standards and identify any buildings or facilities violating safety requirements.
Al-Roumi noted that recent campaigns carried out in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area — conducted in coordination with multiple government entities — resulted in the administrative closure of several facilities and citations issued to many others for failing to meet fire safety standards.
He urged institutions, businesses, and property owners to fully comply with fire safety regulations and cooperate with inspection teams to avoid closures or legal consequences. The ultimate objective, he stressed, is to create a safer environment for all and prevent avoidable tragedies.
