Kuwait falls to Qatar at the Asian Junior Handball Championship

Kuwait Handball referees continue training camp in Slovenia.

AMMAN, Jordan, Aug 22: Kuwait suffered a 19-30 defeat to Qatar in the second round of Group B at the 11th Asian Junior Handball Championship in Amman, Jordan.

The tournament, which runs until August 31, saw Iran defeat Saudi Arabia 28-20 in the other Group B match. In Group A, South Korea overcame India 37-27, while Bahrain cruised past hosts Jordan 41-19.

Qatar moved to the top of Group B with four points. Iran sits second with two points, ahead of Kuwait on goal difference, also with two points. Syria and Saudi Arabia are fourth and fifth, respectively, without a point.

Bahrain leads Group A with four points, ahead of South Korea on goal difference, while Uzbekistan, Jordan, and India remain without points.

The championship follows a single round-robin format, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals. The group winners will face the fourth-placed teams, while the runners-up will meet the third-placed sides. The four quarter-final winners will advance to the semi-finals, with the remaining teams competing to determine the lower rankings.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Handball Federation referees are continuing their overseas training camp in Slovenia as part of preparations for the upcoming season and competitions.

Federation Secretary-General Qayed Al-Adwani visited the camp and met with the referees to review their training program and preparations. He highlighted the importance of such camps in developing refereeing standards and ensuring officials are fully prepared for the challenges of the new season.
