Kuwait Faces Hot, Dusty Weather With Temperatures Up to 49°C This Week

KUWAIT, May 28: The country will continue to experience hot and dusty weather conditions through the week, with active winds reducing horizontal visibility in some areas, according to acting Director of the Meteorological Department Darrar Al-Ali.

Speaking to KUNA, Al-Ali said weather maps and numerical models indicate that Kuwait is currently under the influence of an extension of a low-pressure system accompanied by a dry and hot air mass. Temperatures are expected to rise gradually on Thursday and Friday, with shifting wind patterns contributing to dust activity across exposed areas.

He noted that winds will shift from southwesterly to northwesterly, ranging from moderate to brisk at times, leading to reduced visibility in some regions.

Thursday Forecast

The weather today will be hot during the daytime, with light to moderate southeasterly winds between 8 and 32 km/h, occasionally becoming active.

  • Maximum temperature: 44°C to 46°C
  • Sea conditions: Light to moderate waves (1–4 ft)

Tonight will remain warm, with winds shifting to southwesterly, occasionally active.

  • Minimum temperature: 29°C to 31°C
  • Sea conditions: 2–5 ft waves with scattered clouds
Friday Forecast

Friday is expected to be very hot, with shifting winds from southwesterly to northwesterly, occasionally gusty and dust-raising.

  • Winds: 15–50 km/h (occasionally strong)
  • Maximum temperature: 47°C to 49°C
  • Sea conditions: Slight to moderate, waves 2–6 ft

Friday night will be warm and partly cloudy.

  • Winds: Northwesterly to northerly (15–40 km/h)
  • Minimum temperature: 25°C to 27°C
  • Sea: Slight to moderate (2–6 ft)
Saturday Forecast

Conditions will slightly ease but remain hot, with northerly to northwesterly winds that may become active at times.

  • Winds: 12–42 km/h
  • Maximum temperature: 39°C to 41°C
  • Conditions: Scattered clouds, possible dust in exposed areas
  • Sea: Light to moderate (2–6 ft)

Saturday Night

Weather will turn warm to mild, with generally stable conditions.

  • Winds: Northwesterly to northerly (12–35 km/h)
  • Minimum temperature: 24°C to 26°C
  • Sea: Light to moderate (2–5 ft)
  • Skies: High clouds expected
Outlook

Authorities expect persistent heat and intermittent dust activity to continue through the period, driven by shifting wind patterns and a hot, dry air mass over the region.

Residents are advised to take precautions against high temperatures and reduced visibility, especially during peak afternoon hours.
